Deep Sea Fishing Aboard Hooked Up

Today fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale was great beautiful weather great guys and yep some nice fish biting to boot.

As we got to the dock we were meat by Paul from Michigan, Eric from Chicago, Jerry from Indianapolis and Gary from Milwaukee.

We started out trolling with 3 ballyhoos on the surface and 2 planner rods down about 45 feet.

Things started out a bit slow but soon enough as we worked our way to the north we started catching some kingfish on our deeper lines.

Than all of a sudden we seen a big frigate bird coming down on the water and we knew right away that there had to be something there he was chancing.

As we got close to the bird BAM one of our surface baits got hit and we were connected.

After a good 10 min battle our mate Alex reached out with the gaff and we got this nice 15 pound Mahi in the boat.

Dec 5-1

After a bit more trolling in the same area once again one of the surface baits got hit and another Mahi comes aboard.

Ok now that we had fish in the box we decided to bring in the trolling gear and set out the kites with live baits suspended from them hopping for a sail fish. Well sorry to say we never did get a shot at a sail but we did hook into this big smoker kingfish but we had mono leaders and we knew the chance of catching this toothy critter was slim to none.

BUT as luck would have it he was hooked in the tip of his nose and with Alex’s cat like reflexes and his perfect gaff shot BAM another nice fish in the box.

Thanks to all of our anglers for fishing with us today aboard the Hooked Up.
