ACTION PACKED FISHING ABOARD HOOKED UP OFF THE COAST OF FORT LAUDERDALE

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

Today we fished with Charlie, Gary and Jose all from South Florida and I’ve got to say it was pretty much none stop action.

By the end of the trip we had a couple of nice kingfish one black fin tuna and I could not keep track of how many bonitos we caught but I’m sure it was well over a dozen.

As we pulled back to the dock we had Taylor’ Cooper’ Todd and Troy from Toms River New Jersey and Halley and Brandon from South Florida out for an afternoon of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

By the end of the trip we caught a box full of kingfish and bonitos and a nine and half foot hammerhead shark that everyone took part in catching.

WOW another action packed day of deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

Fishing with Catfish and friends aboard Hooked Up

Saturday, July 21st, 2012

Today we had an old friend aboard Cat Fish who sings at all the local bars along with his wife Jeul and their close friends Shadow, Stephanie and Toney.

Truth being told here fishing was slow but we made the best of it by pounding the reef and catching a couple of Mahia Mahia, Bonitos and black fin tunas. We thought we might do better by fishing the bottom but all we ended up with was a couple of good eating tilefish.

Cat Fish Thanks again and next time we WILL tear it up.

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

Today we started out day out fishing with Mike and Aaron from West Virginia and Daniel and Mike from Georgia.

We started out trolling the reef and catching a box full of bonitos and a couple kingfish.

Than as we brought in the trolling gear we set out a couple of live baits over a ship wreck and landed a couple of nice barracudas.

As we got back to the dock we had Darrin and his son Sean from Chicago out for a short 3-hour trip.

But that was all it took to land some bonitos and a big trophy size barracuda.

Having a blast fishing aboard Hooked Up off fort Lauderdale

Saturday, July 14th, 2012

This morning we started out our day fishing with Drew, Warner and Mark from Ft Myers Florida and with Catherine and Jamie from Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Once again we started out trolling and catching 4 big bonitos and 3 Mahia Mahia.

Ok once again the skunk was out of the box so we switched to shark fish and yes once again we got Hooked Up and everyone helped out reeling this 5 to 6 foot hammerhead shark to the side of the boat. We did get 2 out of the 3 hooks out of the shark and he swam away in good shape.

As we got back to the dock we had Todd, 8-year-old Michael from South Florida and Diana and Jimmy from Kentucky ready to give it a shot at some deep-sea fishing.

We started out trolling and right away we caught a box full of bonitos and a nice kingfish but the seas were picking up a bit and we called it a day a bit early.

HammerHead Shark aboard Hooked Up off Fort Lauderdale

Friday, July 13th, 2012

Today we had Matt, Mike, Andrew and one guy who’s writing I just can’t make out all from Washington D.C. area.

We started out trolling and catching more bonitos than we could count along with 1 nice barracuda.

Than we switched from trolling to shark fishing with 3 live baits suspended from the kites and one shark bait also suspended from the kite. We also sent a shark bait to the bottom and one half way down.

Than all at once one of the shark rods bent over and we were Hooked Up.

Everyone took turns helping to reel this big hammerhead shark to the side of the boat. We did manage to get 2 out of the 3 hooks out and watched him swim away in good shape to fight again another day.

(That is everyone except one guy that didn’t feel so good)

Guys it was a blast fishing with you and thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Trolling the reefs off Ft Lauderfdale

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

Today we started our day fishing with Joseph, Keith and his son Kith, Louis, and Sebastian all from New Jersey.

Today was a very rainy day so flying the kites was out of the question so we went to trolling the reef and as it turned out trolling was pretty good this morning with us landing 2 big kingfish, a few big bonitos and 3 barracudas.

While we may not have set any world records today considering the rainy conditions we had some laughs and caught some pretty nice fish.

Guy’s thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Great Fun with Dads and their sons aboard Hooked Up

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

Today we fished with a couple of dads and their sons. We had Craig and his son Conner from South Florida and we also had Stu and his 2 sons Tyler and Justin from Michigan.

We started out trolling on the reef and catching the heck out of bonitos one after another.

Once we had caught more than enough bonitos we went out to 350 feet of water and set out our kites with live baits suspended from them along with a shark bait also suspended from the kite.

We also set a shark bait to the bottom and last but not least another shark bait half way down.

Ok trap set and BAM along came a small Mahia Mahia and just like that another fish in the boat followed up with a big shark that came up on the kite and BAM we were Hooked Up.

20 min later we had this 5 to 6 foot hammerhead at the side of the boat.

Great fun action packed trip with a box full of bonitos one Mahia Mahia and a nice hammerhead to end the trip on a great note.

Craig and Stu thanks again for bring the boys along to fish with us aboard the Hooked Up.

RATS The one that got away aboard Hooked Up

Monday, July 9th, 2012

Today we fished with Joe and Joe from Philly and while we did catch fish this is a story about the one that got away! (RATS)

We started out trolling the reef and catching kingfish and bonitos when all of a sudden out of nowhere this monster 50 pound plus cobia jumped on one of the baits and the fight was on.

BUT as much as I hate to post this just as we were grabbing the leader he shook his head and just like that he was gone. (#$&@) If you know what I mean?

Well you got to give the fish a bit of credit he was fighting for his life and well you just can’t win them all but all the same this was a tough one to watch swim away.
