Today we fished with Bruce, Felipe, Carlos, Little Russ and big Russ all from Florida.
We started out trolling the reef and catching bonitoes.
Once everyone had caught a fish or 2 we switched over to shark fishing with 2-shark baits set down deep and 1 on the surface.
Ok trap was set now all we needed was for some big sea monster to come along a take a bite!!
It took a bit of waiting but than all at once BAM the rod bent over and we were Hooked Up.
Big Russ jumped in the chair and the big back and forth battle began.
After a good 30 min of back and forth up popped this 93 inch Hammerhead Shark.

Now that’s a nice fish!!
Way to go Russ.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we fished with Dean, Felieny 15-year-old Brianna and 11-year-old Bethany along with Audrey and Sharova from Indiana and from Kentucky.
We started out trolling the reef with everyone catching small black fin tunas and Brianna landing a nice kingfish.

Ok once again the skunk was out of the box so in came the trolling gear and out went the live baits.
It took a bit of waiting but at last a big sailfish came along and we were Hooked Up.
Dean and Felieny took turns and finally got this big sailfish next to the boat.

We got a couple of pictures and watched him swim away to fight again another day.

Thanks again guys it was a ball fishing with the whole family and we are looking forward to fishing again with all of you next year.

Today we started out fishing with Paul, Grant and Pete from New York.
We started out trolling the reef with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet down and 3 baits skipping across the surface and landing kingfish, black fin tunas and kingfish.
As we got back to the dock we had Ann, Amy, Jenny, Sherrie and Kristen waiting and eager to give their luck a shot at some deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
Once again this was going to be one of those bend the rod as much as possible trips so we went right back to trolling and ended up with a hand full of bonitos and a couple of black fin tunas.
Ok so the skunk was out of the box so we ended the trip with some big shark baits down deep.
All of a sudden BAM our deep rod bent over and we were Hooked Up.
The girls went back and forth helping to get this sea monster to the boat.
Finally a big hammer head shark popped up and just as we were grabbing the leader to try to get a couple of pictures the hooks pulled out of the shark’s mouth.
Well it was a catch but we never did get any pictures.
To all of our anglers today thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Today we had a short fishing trip with Toney from Ohio and David from South Florida.
These guys were just looking to see if they could get Hooked Up into a tarpon in the bay?
Well they got more than they asked for with us first catching a 100 pound plus tarpon along with a 78 inch nurse shark and to end our short fishing trip we caught a 50 inch barracuda.
(TALK ABOUT A LOT OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!)

Guy’s thanks again for taking the 3 hours out with us and we are looking forward to a longer trip next time!
I wonder what we could catch in 8 hours with the luck these guys have? (LOL)

The trap was set and from there it wasn’t long till our first bite with Aaron and Drew landing a nice hammerhead shark.
But Dana and Zack would not be out done with them catching a big bull shark.

Aaron and Dana thanks again for bringing the little guys along to fish with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

WOW that’s all I can say about today’s fishing trip with Robert and Veronica.
We started out trolling with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface. Robert started off the action when he hooked into a Mahia Mahia. Followed up with Veronica landing a Mahia Mahia of her own than Robert landed another while Veronica caught a nice barracuda and than a big kingfish.
Ok now that we had fish in the box in came all the trolling gear and out went our shark baits. It took a bit of patience but at last a bite on the deep rod. Robert got in the chair and the fight was on.
30 min later up popped this 90 tiger shark. (HOLLY COW)
We just don’t see many tiger sharks around here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
We got a quick measurement and Veronica got a few pictures (Witch we are still waiting for so we can post them here HINT HINT) and than we watched him swim away in good shape to fight again another day.
Robert and Veronica thanks again for fishing with us it was a blast.

Today we started out fishing with Mike, Mike, Matt and Jeff all from Indiana.
We started out trolling the reef and catching a bonito and a kingfish. Trolling was over all just plane old slow today so we switched to shark fishing out in 350 feet of water with a shark bait on top one on the bottom and one half was down.
It took a bit of waiting but man did it ever pay off in a big way with everyone helping out reeling in not one but two that’s right 2 hammerhead sharks.

WOW how the heck were we going to top this with our afternoon trip with Willie, Andrew, Will and Ethan from Coral Spring Florida.
While we may not have caught bigger fish this afternoon we did manage to catch some good eating fish like a couple of Mahia Mahia along with a few good fighting bonitos.

Thanks again to all of our anglers for fishing with us today aboard the hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Today we had Pete’ Charlie, Ken and Pat out for a few hours of deep des fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of South Florida.
We started out trolling and catching a remora, a few bonitos and a black fin tuna.
Ok so now that the skunk was out of the box it was time to try for the BIG one.
So in came all the trolling gear and out went the live baits along with a few shark baits. Also as we were waiting for the big bite we sent down a chicken rig for tilefish.
As we were waiting the tilefish were coming up one after another. I don’t know how many we caught but it was more than enough.
After a bit of waiting one of the shark rods bent over and line started peeling off the reel. Charlie jumped in the chair and the fight was on.
25 min later up popped this 6-foot Hammerhead shark.
WOW what an action packed afternoon of fishing aboard Hooked Up today.
Guy’s thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up and we’re looking forward to fishing with you guys again soon.

Today we had 5 guys from Alabama and 1 from Jasonville Florida that were ether best friends and or related but ether way you could say these guys were all family.
Once a year they all get together for what they call the boys weekend out and a nicer bunch of guys you would be hard pressed to find.
We had Keith, Jeff, Nelson, Toney, Michael and Bryant.
Now some of the guys wanted to catch some good eating fish while others wanted to try for that sea monster of a lifetime.
So we started out trolling the reef with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet down and 3 baits skipping across the surface. We started out with Keith landing a nice 10 to 12 pound kingfish and we figured trolling was going to be red hot. But as it turned out we only landed one other small king and trolling the reef turned out to be just plain old slow.
Ok lets see big fish and good eating fish? So I came up with a plan.
We brought in all the trolling gear and went out to about 400 feet of water and set out a couple of big shark baits and I figured while we were waiting for the big bite we all set down a chicken rig (5 hooks in a row with a lead at the bottom)
At first no bites at all so we picked up and moved and we must have moved to the right spot because once the shark baits were set and the chicken rig hit the bottom BAM the chicken rig rod started getting bites.
We started catching tilefish and let me tell you they are one of my favorite fish to eat. While they may not be a big fish (avg 3 to 4 pounds) Jeff managed to land a big 7 to 8 pounder.

We ended up with more than enough fish for dinner and while we never did get that big monster bite we wanted everyone had a blast and I’m sure we get another shot at the big one with these guys next year.

Thanks again guys and looking forward to fishing with you again next year.

Today we had Larry and his son Jack along with Ron out for some deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.
We started out trolling and landing a couple black fin tunas.
Than we brought in the trolling gear and started doing some deep drops with a chicken rig (5 hooks in a line with a lead at the bottom) once the bait hit the bottom BAM they started biting BUT while we were fishing the bottom we also had a shark bait out just in case!
So there we were just picking at the tilefish and we kind of forgot about our shark bait TILL BAM the big rod bent over and line started peeling off the reel. We Were Hooked Up!!
Jack jumped in the chair and the fight was on. Jack was doing all he could with this sea monster on the other end but there was no stopping this fish than Larry jumped in to give a hand. Back and forth the fight went on and on but at last they got this 98-inch hammerhead shark to the boat.
WOW what a great fight and a great big shark.
Larry if you guys could send me a couple of the pictures I would love to post them.

Today please bare with me because our fishing report notes all got wet and I am doing the best I can to read them. Bare in mind we fish everyday and some times it is tough to remember every tip but I believe we had Bill, Kevin and Sam from parts unknown trolling the reef and landing a couple of kingfish.
Afterwards we did set out our shark baits and did catch a hammerhead shark.
As we got back to the dock we had Serge and his son from Montréal Canada out for a few hours of deep sea fishing and once again trolled the reef and landed our limit of kingfish along with a couple black fin tunas.
Once again if I got some of the names wrong please don’t hesitate to e-mail me and I will fix it. Also if any of our anglers today have any pictures of today’s trip I would be happy to post them as well.

Today we had a farther and son team Steve and his son Wyatt from Wichita Kansas out for a little deep-sea fishing.
Today we went right to fishing for big sharks or sailfish so out went the kites with 3 live baits suspended from them along with a shark bait also suspended from the kites. We also sent shark bait all the way down 350 feet and a last shark bait half way down.
Ok trap set now we need a fish and man watch out what you ask for because you just might get more then you barge for.
All of a sudden a nice hammerhead shark came in on the shark bait that was suspended from the kite. This shark was all over the place trying to zero in on the sent when all of a sudden another hammerhead and this one could have eaten the first one! O no RUT ROW please hurry and eat the bait before the big one gets it!!
RATS the BIG ONE now we are in for it!!
Wyatt jumped in the chair what for I don’t know because all he did was to HANG on as this monster took line off the reel as if there was a fright train on the other end.

Finally the sea monster slowed up and Wyatt gained an inch or 2 than back out the line went. O my God we were not going anywhere for quite some time.
Than Steve jumped in the chair to help out a bit and so it went back and forth gain a bit lose a lot one angler than back to the other.

Ok I could go on and on but about an hour or so later we finally had this 11-foot great gray hammerhead shark next to the boat.

There was no sliding this one in for a measurement we measured this one while he was next to the boat.
At first we figured at least 700 pounds but after further looking at this fish and comparing it to others we have killed and weighed in the past we would have to say this fish weighted some where between 8 to 1000 pound!! NO BS biggest fish ever caught aboard the Hooked Up.
WOW what else can I say? Now that’s a nice fish!!!
Steve and Wyatt we will never forget this fishing trip and once again thanks soooo much for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we had Scott and Heidi and their son Brandon and daughter Valerie and their grand parents Vicki and Henry from Simpsonville South Carolina out for a few hours of deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida.
We went right to BIG GAME fishing with some live baits on the surface along with some shark baits down deep.
Ok trap was set now all we needed was for some sea monster to come along and take a bite!
And that was just what happened when this big hammerhead shark came along and just like that BAM the fight was on.
25 min later up popped this 91-inch hammerhead shark.

We managed to slide him through the tuna door to get the hooks out and for a couple of quick pictures and than as you can see he swam away in great shape to fight again another day.

To our new friends from South Carolina thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
