Today we had our regular customers/friends Clark and Whitney from New York out for a few hours in the afternoon for a bit of big game hunting off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up. Today they brought along their good friends Matt and Gary from Arizona.
Ok so it was big game they wanted so we went right out to 350 feet of water with once again some live and dead bait suspended from the kites and another shark bait down on the bottom.
At first things just were not going our way between rain coming and going and the current going one way and the wind going another it was dam near imposable to fly the kites and keep the bottom bait down on the bottom.
But we hung in there and finally a shark came in on one of our shark baits and we were Hooked Up.
Matt jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It took Matt a good 20 min but at last we were able to remove all the hooks take a quick picture and we watched him dart away in great shape.

Ok now that the skunk was out of the box a little of the pressure was off.
While we were fighting this shark I had heard on the radio about a few sails being seen in shallower water. So we took off and set back up in about 160 feet of water with live baits suspended from the kites.
It only took a few min till BAM a sailfish came in on our left short bait and just like that we were Hooked Up again.
This time Whitney jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This fish put on one hell of a show for us dancing all over the surface of the waves.
Finally Whitney got her sail to the side of the boat. We got a couple of photos of him swimming along the side of the boat and released him to fight again another day.

At this point we were out of time but I just had a good feeling and decided to stay a few more min and sure enough here comes another shark all over our live bait on the surface.
We knew we did not have out the right tackle to fight this hammerhead shark but Captain Greg was just playing with him. Every time the shark was just about to eat the bait Greg would raise the bait up in the air and the shark was getting pissed off more and more. At the same time I kept bring the kite in closer and closer finally Greg decided to give it a shot and just like that we were Hooked Up again.
This fight only lasted about 30 seconds till he broke us off but what a blast watching this shark getting so turned on the more we took the bait away from him the more he wanted it. I think he would have jumped in the boat to get to the bait. (LOL)
Guys thanks again and as always it a blast fishing with you guys.

Today I had my old friend Barb out for her 50th B Day along with her boy friend Kurt and her brother Jim from Michigan and our good friend Laura and her boy friend George all from Florida.
The plain today was good eating fish and dolphin was the fish that was requested. So off shore we went with 6 baits skipping across the surface and another bait down about 45 feet. We trolled and trolled and yes trolled with no bites what so ever.
Finally I talked Barb and the rest of the gang into just try to catch fish on the reef and see what we come up with.
Well I’ve got to say we made the right move in fact I heard Barb saying that it was the best fishing trip ever.
It all started as we got to the reef and hooked into a couple of small black fin tunas and while we were catching them a sail fish came up and tried to eat one of our baits but we missed him.
That was ok at least now we were seeing fish and before we knew it we were catching bonitos and kings one after another. But these were not just little 6 to 7 pounders these were all nice kings ranging from 12 to 28 pounds and we were just having a ball.
Barb thanks soooo much as always it’s a blast fishing with you and how about we don’t wait a whole year for your B Day to come around again how about we do it on Kurt’s B Day too??
As we got back to the dock we had so many fish to clean for their fish fry and since we had our afternoon party eager and ready to go we had to hire someone to clean all the fish for us.

We unloaded the fish took a couple quick photos and headed right back out with our bachelor party for Jay and his friends Cory, Justin, Frank, Ryan and Patrick all from Orange County New York.
These guys had big fish on their mind so we went right to 350 feet of water set out both our kites with live and dead bait suspended from them along with a couple more shark baits set down deep.
As soon as we set out our kites we got attacked by some dolphin fish and ended up landing one out of the two fish that were there. It was a nice 12 pounder just enough for these guys to wash down some of there beer next door at this little restaurant-bar that ins right next to where we dock.
Ok the skunk was out of the box but we were by no means out of the woods these guys really wanted Jay to do battle with a big fish.
We waited and waited and just as I we were going to move into shallower water a big sailfish jumped all over our right long kite bait. The fight was on but just as fast as he showed up the fish jumped right onto another one of our kite lines and broke off. RATS this one hurt it was a nice fish and he was just going nuts jumping all over the place and there was not a thing we could do about it.
Ok back to fishing and waiting when all of a sudden our deep rod bent over and we were Hooked Up with a SEA MONSTER. Jay jumped in the chair and the fight was on.
This was not going to be an easy fish every time Jay would gain some line the fish would just take more out.
So there we were backing down on some big fish everyone rooting Jay on there was no way he was going to give up.
After a 35 min tug a war up popped this big hammerhead shark.
Finally we got a head rope around this fish and got a quick measurement and a few quick photos to have a replica trophy made of Jay’s catch and back into the sea he went in great shape to fight again another day.

Jay best of luck and to all of our anglers today it was a blast fishing with all of you and we hope to see you guys again soon.

This morning we started out fishing with Jordan and Archelle from Winnipeg Canada.
Today we went right to trolling the reef and today the reef was on fire. We caught our limit of kingfish along with a couple of black fin tunas and a box full of bonitos.
You could say it was a none stop catching trip this morning.

As we pulled back to the dock we had Brain, Stephaney and her sister Tracy all from Chicago Illinois.
This afternoon we went right to kite fishing in 350 feet of water with live and dead baits suspended from the kites.
Today it was the live bait that paid off first with a nice 18 pound dolphin fish and than with a 100 inch sail fish!! That’s right a 100 incher that was the biggest sailfish I’ve ever been a part of catching.
That was the good news the bad news was it took us over 45 min of backing down on this sea monster to finally get to him and by the time we got him to the side of the boat we realized why it was taking so long. Not only was it a huge fish but he was hooked in the side to boot. Well needless to say by the time we got to him he was dead so while we really don’t like bring these fish back we figured better to have him smoked than to just let him sink to the bottom.

Brain congas you earned this one and I’m sure he is going to look great on the wall.
Thanks again to my new friends from Chicago.

Today we started out fishing with Thomas formally from Virginia and now lives in Boca Raton Florida, Dan from New Jersey, Randy and Renee from Keaney Nebraska and Kathleen and her son Patrick from Cincinnati Ohio.
We went right to kite fishing with the live baits suspended from the kites long with some shark baits set down deep.
As soon as we got the baits all set out here came along this dolphin fish and just like that we were Hooked Up. Patrick jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a 5 to 7 min fight Patrick had landed dinner. And Kathleen even had a replica mount made of Patrick’s first dolphin fish.
J.J. got the baits set right back out there when all of a sudden our deep rod with the shark bait on it bent over and line started peeling off the reel. Randy jumped in the chair and the fight was on.
Randy was looking for a big trophy fish to hang on his wall and we figured this was the one. But as luck would have it after a good 30 min back and forth tug a war up popped this monster hammerhead shark and this fish was just too big. That’s a first but it truly was a big 7 to 8 foot shark.
Nice going Randy.
As we pulled back to the dock we had Vince and Keeta from Indiana waiting to give luck a shot at some of this shark fishing.
We started out doing a bit of trolling catching a couple of bonitos and black fin tunas.
Once the ice was broke and we had a few fish in the box we set out the kites and once again with a couple of shark baits down deep and the trap was set.
And YES once again the deep rod bent over and Vince jumped in the chair and the fight was on.
30 min later up popped another big hammerhead shark.
Ok here where today’s fishing story takes a bit of a turn. Today was my first day with this new Handy Cam video camera I bought to try to take videos of these great fish we’ve been catching and well I just forgot to use my camera to get pictures to post.
So I am sorry to say that I dropped the ball and never did get any pictures of Vince’s shark.
But to all of my anglers today and to those who will be fishing with us in the future I am learning how to edit the videos and I WILL be sending them to you guys just please e mail me to remind me.
Also bare in mind I don’t have it down yet but I will have it down with in the next couple of days so bare with me.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Sunny Fort Lauderdale

Today we started out this unbelievable day of fishing with the twins Michael and Dominick and thier dad Steve from Lambertville,MI and Terry and Denise from Sylvania Ohio last but not least Artie from Boston.
Once again we went right to kite fishing with 3 live baits suspended from the kites along with a shark bait also suspended from the kite. We also sent shark bait all the way down 350 feet to the bottom and last but not least another shark bait half way down.
Ok so the trap was set we had the surface middle and bottom covered and now all we needed was for some big SEA MONSTER to come along and have a little lunch.
That’s when all hell broke lose!! All at once we had a hammerhead shark eating our kite bait at the same time we had a BIG bite on our bottom bait.
Steve got in one chair as Terry got in the other and the double-header fight was on.
It was a back and forth tug a wars by both anglers and fish for over 35 min till we finally got Terry’s shark to the boat soon after that we had Steve’s huge 106 inch hammerhead shark at the boat at the same time. We got a few quick photos of both sharks and watched them both swim away with their pride a little hurt but in good shape.

WOW what else can I say it was a great morning of shark fishing and we can’t thank our anglers enough for fishing with us today.
As we pulled back to the dock we had Jason, Debbie and Ryan from Indiana eager to see if their luck would be as good as our mornings trips was?
Once again we set out the kites along with the shark baits and the trap was set.
Out of nowhere came this huge and I do mean huge dorsal fin headed right for our shark bait that was suspended from the kite.
Once this shark got a good scent on the bait he came racing in like a missal and just like that we were Hooked Up.
Jason jumped in the chair and the fight of his life was on.
Looking back on the whole fight I don’t know when the fish knew he was hooked? When he first felt the hook and took off like a missal or once he got next to the boat and J.J. got a head rope around his head but ether way this shark was a bad ass.
Finally he settled down and we were able to get a quick photo and a measurement of Jason’s 10-foot Great Gray Hammer Head Shark.

Sharks are here and we are having a ball putting our anglers to work so come on down to Sunny South Florida and get you some. (LOL)
Thanks again to all of our anglers for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up off the Coast of Sunny South Florida.

Today we started out fishing with Joe, Britney and Casey from West Palm Beach Florida.
We picked up some live baits and went right to kite fishing with 4 live baits suspended from them.

We ended up catching a few bonitos and barracuda and a big sailfish.

As we got back to the dock we had Greg his son Hunter From New York along with his nephew Cory from Delray Beach Florida and Peter from London eager to give their luck a shot at some deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida.
Once again we went right to kite fishing only this time we added a couple of shark baits to our spread and man was that ever the right choice.

We ended up catching 5 foot Silky shark along with this small 400 pound Hammer Head Shark.

Wow what a great trip!! While it may seem as if we did not catch a lot bare in mind we spent a lot of the trip fighting this 400 pounder.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we started out fishing with John, Jennifer, July and Elizabeth.
We started out trolling the reef catching a bunch of 8 to 12 pound bonitos and 4 nice black fin tunas.
We trolled our way toward a shipwreck that lay in about 110 feet of water. As we got close to the wreck we set out a couple of live baits with trouble hooks in them and sent one down about 60 feet on a down rigger and another bait on the surface.
It took a matter of seconds till the bait down deep got attacked and before we knew it we were doing battle with a big barracuda.

Ok they are biting so after a couple of photos we released our first barracuda and set the live baits right back out there and BAM again we were connected. And once again a couple photos and we set him free to fight again anther day.

As we pulled back to the dock we had our afternoon trip consisting of Russ, Anne, Michael, Katie and Brittany from Las Vegas waiting to do a bit of Sport fishing aboard the Hooked up.
This time we went right to kite fishing with live baits suspended from the kites.
Truth being told fishing started out on the slow side for us but all @ once our luck changed and before we knew it we had a big sailfish dancing all over the place and we were Hooked Up.
Anne jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a good 20 min back and forth tug a war Anne finally got her first sailfish to the boat.
Way to go Anne
I am sorry to say that the photos we took of the fish never came out so Anne if you guys can send us the photos and we would love to post them.
Thanks again to our entire group of anglers for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we started out with fishing with Eric and Graham from North Carolina.
We started out trolling right outside the reef catching a mixed bag consisting of a few kingfish a couple black fin tunas and a couple dolphin fish.
Ok now that we had a good mixed bag of fish in the box we brought in the trolling gear and set out our kites with some live goggle eyes (Live Bait) suspended from them.
Once again today everything we tried just seem to work with Eric catching a big sailfish.
As we got back to the dock we picked up our afternoon trip Jeff and his two twin sons Max and Jamie from New York.
We went right out to 350 feet of water and set out 2 kites with 3 live baits suspended from them and 1 big dead shark bait also suspended from the kites. We also set a shark bait on the bottom and last but not least a shark bait about half way down.
Talk about feast or fathom, all at once here comes this big hammer head shark all over our shark bait that was suspended from the kites as the deep rod with the other shark bait on bends over and not only are we Hooked Up but we are double Hooked U p at the same time.

We had our hands full to say the least. Max jumped on one rod while Jamie jumped on the other.
35 min later we got the first one to the boat and J.J. got him into the boat for a quick measurement and a photo in order to have a replica trophy made of this great catch. Just as J.J. was sliding him back out the door here came the second hammerhead. This one was a bit smaller than the first but a BIG SHARK anyway you look at it.
After some high fiving and some hand shaking back out went the baits and we were fishing again.
Once again it seemed we could do no wrong today and before we knew it we were fight another fish and this must have been the day of the toothy fish because we ended up boating big barracuda to finish off the day.

To all of our anglers today THANKS again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we started out fishing with Nikki and Tony from New York and Nina, Laura, Kristen and Janet all from Fort Lauderdale Florida.
We went right to trolling the reef with 2 planner board running about 45 feet down along with a wire line set way back and also running down deep and 2 more surface lines with the baits skipping across the surface.
Trolling was the ticket today because we ended up catching a big box full of fish consisting of Kingfish, Bonitos, and Black Fin tunas.

What an action packed morning of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.
As we pulled back to the dock we had our afternoon anglers ready and eager to give their luck a shot aboard the Hooked Up.
We had Mom and dad Marion and Greg along with their kids Little 12 year old Abby, Courtney and last but not least 13 year old Emily all from New Jersey.
Right back to trolling we went with the same spread of baits we had fished in our morning trip.
The only difference was that it seemed the fish were biting even better than they were in the morning trip because we started catching fish right away and it looked as if we were going to fill the fish box. That was the good new but the bad news was that I am sorry to say that a few of them were not really feeling the fishing thing if you know what I mean?

(We like to say they got SICK of fishing) (LOL)
Thanks again to the girls and the Family from New Jersey for fishing with us off the coast of South Florida.

This morning we started out fishing with Johan and his family from Norway.( sorry we did not get all their names)
We started out trolling the reef catching a nice barracuda hand full of king fish and a box full of bonitos.

We ended our morning trip with dropping a live bait down on a wreck that was in 210 feet of water. It only took about 2 seconds after the live bait hit the bottom till BAM we got Hooked Up. What a great way to end the trip catching a nice 30 to 35 pound amber jack.
Once we got back to the dock we loaded up our new lucky anglers Mom and dad Tim and Jill along with their kids Jake, Alex and Halle all from Wisconsin.
Once again we started out trolling the reef catching a few bonitos along with a king fish and 3 black fin tunas.
Now that the skunk was out of the box and everyone caught some fish it was time to go for the fish of a lifetime.
So out went the kites with 3 live baits suspended from them along with one big shark bait also suspended from the kites. We also sent a shark bait all the way to the bottom and last but not least another shark bait down about half way to the bottom.
The trap was set now we needed a little luck.
After a bit of waiting one of the shark rods bent over and the fight was on. After a good 20 min back and forth tug a war up came this big hammerhead shark.

J.J. managed to slide the shark into the boat for a quick measurement and a photo to have a replica trophy made of the family’s catch and then we released him back into the sea to fight again another day.

What a great time fishing today with 2 different family’s from 2 different parts of the world but so much in common.
Thanks again to all of our angles today for fishing with us off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

We started out trolling but only caught a king fish and one Spanish mackerel.
Ok so trolling was slow so in came all the trolling gear and out went the Kites with live baits suspended from them along with a couple of shark baits down deep.
It took a bit of waiting but at last one of the big shark rods bent over and we were Hooked Up.
Jim jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a good 15 min Jim got his 5-foot hammerhead shark to the side of the boat. J.J. managed to get 2 out of the 3 hooks out of him and he swam away in great shape.
Thanks again guys we had a ball fishing with you.

Today we had Kent and his wife Cindy back aboard after 2 sailfish got away from them on Tuesday so today it was get even time.
We started out trolling our way to the south off the cost of Hallandale Beach Florida. We were trolling with 3 lines down deep and 3 more baits skipping across the surface.
I must admit trolling was not producing many fish but every now and than we would pull in a bonito but that was about all we were catching tolling TILL J.J. came up on the fly bridge with me and we were talking about what we could try next?
We were trolling in 120 feet of water and we both noticed a sailfish jumping way inside of where we were trolling. At this point I went down stairs for a soda and when I came back up on the bridge J.J. had spotted this sail fish swimming down sea with just the tip of his tail sticking out of the water. J.J. kept trying to point him out to me but I just could not get an eye on him. I said well since you see him put me on him! I ran down stairs grabbed a spinning rod and quickly hooked on a live bait. J.J. yelled out cast it at 2 o’clock about 30 feet behind the boat. So I casted where J.J. had told me. It only took about 2 seconds for J.J. to yell down that the fish had already swam past my bait. I thought that was pretty funny because something had picked up the bait and was swimming off with it. I locked up the reel and started reeling like mad and all at once out came this big sailfish jumping all over the place. We were Hooked Up there must have been more than one fish there.
I handed the rod off to Kent and the fight was on.
Now bare in mind we got Hooked Up with all these other lines still out there. I had Cindy start to help me clearing the other lines and she had something on the line she was clearing but within seconds the line went slack and she went back to taking pictures of Kent fighting his fish.
Meanwhile I was reeling like a mad man and once I got to the last rod I had to clear it must have sunk down deep because once I started pulling in the 65 foot long leader I noticed it was heavy and son of a gun I had a fish on the other end.
It turned out to be a 5-pound mutton snapper. (Hell Yea we’ll take it any way we can get it)
Once we had all the lines cleared Kent reeled his sailfish to the side of the boat for a few quick pictures and we watched him swam away in great shape.

Ok now things were looking up. By this point we were at the wreck we were heading toward in the first place.
Down went the first bait the rod bent over and line started screaming off the reel. We were Hooked Up again and this time Cindy jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This was a BIG back and forth tug a war for a good 25 min but at last up popped this 70 to 80 pound amber Jack. Way to hang in there Cindy.

Well os it worked once what the heck down went another live bait and once again the rod bent over and now Kent found himself back in the fighting chair. Soon there after up popped another amber jack this one being 30 to 40 pounder.

What a fun day of deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale with both Cindy and Kent aboard the Hooked Up.
We ended up with 1 king fish 6 or 7 bonitos 2 big amber jacks and one nice sailfish. Not a bad way to spend the day.
Cindy and Kent thanks again you guys are first class and we are looking forward to fishing with you guys again soon.

This morning we had a father and daughter team consisting of Lee and Gabby from New Jersey.
We trolled our way down toward the wreck we had been fishing the last few days. On our way down we caught a few bonitos and a couple of black fin tunas.
Once we got to the wreck in came all the trolling gear and we tried a drop on a wreck that lay on the bottom in about 185 feet of water.
Sure enough the second the bait hit the bottom BAM we were Hooked Up. 10 min later up popped this 30 pound amber jack. Well if it worked once what the heck we tried it again and once again BAM another big amber jack.

Lee thanks again and we’re looking forward to fishing with you again in a couple of months.
As we got back to the dock we had 2 couples waiting on us.
We had Kay and Ronnie from Austin Texas and Cindy Kent from Garden City Texas.
We had good north current today along with deep blue water so we decided to set out our kites with 4 live baits suspended from them.
After a bit of waiting along came our first sailfish and we were Hooked Up. But RATS after a couple of jumps he spit the hook flipped us the fin and swam off.
Ok at least we knew there were some sails around so right back out went the baits and soon enough another sail popped up and once again we were Hooked up but RATS and double RATS again we jumped him off.
We did manage to stay Hooked Up with a nice 15-pound king fish so Kay kept the skunk out of the box for us.

Guys we’ll looking forward to fishing with you guys again on Thursday and we will get even with those pesty sails. (LOL)
