Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale aboard Hooked Up

May 13th, 2012

Today we went Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Una and Oscar from Sweden out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

We went right out to 160 feet of water and set out our kites with 4 live baits suspended from them.

First fish was a big sailfish and Oscar jumped in the chair. After a good 20 min back and forth tug a war we finally had him to the side of the boat. Sorry to say our camera had a dead battery so we were unable to get any pictures.

Ok right back out went the baits and BAM another sailfish BUT after a couple of jumps he flipped us the fin spit the hook and just like that was gone. (RATS)

Ok once again right back out went the baits and BAM a nice Mahia Mahia in the box.

Not a bad way to spend a couple hours off the coast of South Florida!

Una and Oscar thanks again for fishing with us and we hope to see you again next year.

Mr. Lucky Sail fishing aboard Hooked Up

May 12th, 2012

Today we had Mr. Lucky Jim from Michigan out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Now let me start out by telling you a little bit about Mr. lucky.

The first time Jim fished with me we went off shore to do some sword fishing about 15 miles off shore. So as we were working our way off shore we were high speed trolling some lures when all of a sudden we found ourselves Hooked Up with a big blue marlin. After a good hour of back and forth fighting this fish Jim finally got his first ever-blue marlin to the boat. While we never did catch any swordfish that day we saw a bunch of whales and a water spout that came down from the sky right behind the boat.

Since our first trip Jim has made a dozen or so other trips down to South Florida and has caught lots of sailfish, sharks a big 40-pound black fin tuna along with a host of other big game catches off our coast. So needless to say we call him Mr. Lucky as a matter a fact I asked Jim just this Saturday if he had ever gone fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale and NOT caught a billfish? He said he could not remember ever not catching a billfish while fishing down here. (Hate this guy) Talk about LUCKY.

Well today is a different day and this day was bound to happen.

As we got out we heard on the radio that the sails were biting (Figures)

So out went the kites with our live baits suspended from them and the trap was set. We kept hearing on the radio Hooked Up and then another boat Hooked Up one after another but none for us. Than at last I seen a sailfish heading right for our baits BUT he just kept going not even a glance at our baits! (RATS)

Finally a bite and we were Hooked Up!! 10 min later we were releasing our first sailfish and right back to it we went and again another sail just swam by then another and another! (RATS) What the heck was going on? They just stop eating. We had heard a few of the other boats saying that they also had sails popping up but not eating.

Finally we got another sail to eat and Jim had this one to the boat in less then 3 min but that was it 2 sails and 1 nice kingfish.

Now I’m not saying that it was a bad day because anytime you can catch a couple of sails it’s a good day BUT THIS WAS MR LUCKY!! (LOL)

Jim thanks again as always it is a blast fishing with you and I’m sure we’ll see you come walking down the dock unannounced and we’ll go right back out there and catch a bunch.

Mahia Mahia, Sailfish and Hammer Head Shark aboard Hooked Up

May 11th, 2012

Today we spend the day with Matt, Ryan; Where’s the Bucket Tom (I’ll get to the bucket Tom later), Billy, Josh and Eric all from Winter Heaven Florida.

Good eating fish was what was on the menu so off shore we went. We trolled all the way out to 11 miles from the inlet.

While we were not setting the world on fire with our catches we did mange to catch a small Mahia Mahia here and another one there when all of a sudden my high line got hit and line started peeling off the reel. By the time I turned around this nice Mahia Mahia was already in the air jumping all over the place.

Ryan jumped in the chair and the fight was on. As Ryan was getting his fish closer to the boat we seen another big Mahia Mahia all over another one of our baits and BAM just like that we were Hooked Up with a double header. 10 min later we had our 4th and 5th Mahia Mahia in the box.

Ok back to trolling and hopping for more Mahia Mahia. So we trolled and trolled and yes still trolling with no bites.

I kind of knew these guys were going to get bored and were going to want to try something else so I started trolling our way back in toward the reef when all of a sudden we found a bucket floating and as we made our first pass by the bucket BAM another Mahia Mahia came out of the blue and all over one of our baits. Once again we were Hooked Up all the time we had Tom up in the tuna tower looking for anything we could find floating. As we were fighting this Mahia Mahia we were getting further and further away from this bucket so I kept yelling up at Tom to keep an eye on the bucket and don’t lose it! Just as we got the Mahia Mahia in the box I yelled up at Tom ok where’s the bucket? If looks could kill I would have been dead right there Tom never once took his eyes off the bucket BUT I can tell you he was about over me yelling up where’s that bucket!! (LOL)

Ok back to trolling and trolling and trolling till Greg and I just could not take it any more this trolling without catching was just driving us crazy.

At this point we only had about an hour left to fish and we could have just trolled around and wound down the clock but we are not out here to just kill time we like to catch fish so we asked the guys how about doing a little kite fishing for the last hour?

At this point I think they had enough of trolling too so in came the trolling gear and out went the kites with 4 live baits suspended from them.

I think it took about 2 min till our first sailfish popped up and Matt jumped in the chair. BAM we were Hooked Up and loving it!! 15 min later Matt had his fish next to the boat for a few pictures and then we released him to fight again another day.

Ok back to kite fishing and BAM another sail fish but after a couple of jumps he spit the hook and swam off.

Ok back to kite fishing and BAM a hammerhead shark all over one of our live baits out of the kite. We knew not to let this shark get a hold of the live bait on such light tackle and with a monofilament leader he would bite through the line as if it were hot butter. So every time he would get right up to the live bait Greg would reel the bait up in the air so he could not get to it. All the time Greg was setting out this big shark bait on the big rod. But as luck would have it this shark wanted live bait and nothing else would do.

But the whole last hour Greg and I kept saying what do you think guys should we go back to trolling??? (LOL)

Truth being told here guys off shore trolling for Mahia Mahia is the easiest thing for us as a crew to do. We set out the baits and troll around and hope for the best BUT we really don’t get the chance to show you guys our talent and knowledge till we get a bite and that is if we get the bite. So its not that we don’t like trolling off shore we just want to give you the most bang for your buck.

We’re here and we are pretty good at this so take advantage of our knowledge and skill WE WANT YOU TO.

Matt thanks again for bring all the guys down and we’re looking forward to taking your sons out soon. Thanks again to the rest of the gang too we had a blast fishing with you guys and Tom thanks for not losing the bucket.

Fishing with Brett, Juan and Carlos aboard Hooked Up off Ft Lauderdale

May 9th, 2012

Today we had Brett from South Africa and Juan and Carlos from Colombia.

We went right to trolling with 2-planner boards running about 45 feet deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface.

We ended up catching 3 black fin tunas, 1 mackerel and 2 kingfish.

Than the weather got bad and we decided to call it a day BUT as soon as we got inside the weather once again turned and the sun came out so we spent the next hour and a half cursing around the intercostals.

It turned out to be a great day aboard the Hooked Up.

Thanks again guys you were a blast to spend the day with and we are looking forward to fishing again soon.

Catching Black Fin Tunas aboard Hooked Up

May 8th, 2012

Today we fished with Jason, Ken, Guy, Quanta and Balbo from New Jersey.

We started out trolling the reef looking for some kingfish or bonitos but they just were not biting.

So we ventured further off shore and BAM we found fish and the black fin tunas were coming aboard one after another. Don’t recall how many we caught but it was more than enough.

Guy’s thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Mahia Mahia in the Morning and Shane’s double header Hammerhead in the afternoon off Ft Lauderdale

May 4th, 2012

Today we started out fishing with Maggie and David from New Jersey, Daniel from Holly Wood Florida, Mary from Ft Lauderdale, Carlos from Miami Florida and Mitchell from Conn.

We started out trolling with Mary starting things off with a nice Mahia Mahia followed up with Daniel catching a nice 45 to 50 inch barracuda.

Soon after that Maggie also landed a Mahia Mahia than Daniel once again landing another Mahia Mahia.

I believe we ended up with 4 Mahia Mahia for dinner and one nice barracuda.

Thanks again guys for taking the time to fish with us aboard the Hooked up.

As we got back to the dock we had a big surprise in store for this guy named Shane.

As it turned out it was his birthday and his girlfriend Julie had set up this surprise birthday fishing trip for him. They were down from Charlotte North Carolina to do a little celebrating.

BIG FISH that’s what Julie had told me and we knew it was going to be BIG or ZIP.

O right out to 350 feet of water we went with our kites flying with live and dead baits suspended from them along with a couple of shark baits down deep.

Ok the trap was set and the wait was on. We waited and waited and yes still waiting.

To be honest here I rally did not like the conditionings and I really did not think we were going to get the bite when all of a sudden here comes this nice 5 to 6 foot hammerhead shark all over one of our live baits. But we had the live bait connected to a small reel with 20 pound test so we knew the odds of catching this shark with a 8 inch peace of wire to 20 pound test was probably not going to happen.

So every time the shark would get right up to the bait Greg would reel the bait up in the air all the time we were trying to get a shark bait on a bigger rod to him.

BUT this shark would have nothing to do with it he wanted this little live bait and since we had not seen a fish yet we figured what the heck and just like that we were Hooked Up.

Shane jumped in the chair and we were in for what I figured would be a short fight thinking the shark’s tail would hit and break the line.

Thats the small rod to the left and he’s fighting with the big rod in photo.

But with a little couching from Greg Shane kept the line tight and we were fighting this shark for a good 20 min when out of the corner of my eye I seen a much bigger hammerhead shark heading right for the shark bait we had out there.

BAM we were now connected to 2 hammerhead sharks at the same time.

We just left the bigger shark that was on the right stuff in the rod holder while Shane continued to fight the one on the smaller rod. I be dammed 10 kin later Greg got a hold of the leader and Shane had caught this 5 to 6 foot shark on 20 pound test and was now ready for the second shark.

10 min later he had caught the second shark.

WOW what else can I say!! GREAT JOB Shane and Happy Birthday.

Julie and Shane thanks again you guys really were a blast to fish with and for the first couple hours without a bite you guys never once made us feel pressured and I really think that helped give us this great luck.

Fishing with Nathan, Dominick and Nick aboard Hooked Up!! (A MUST READ GREAT DAY)

April 28th, 2012

This fishing trip started the night before when I got a call because Nathan’s motor on his boat had broke and his brother Dominick who lives in Tampa had comes down all the time fishing with Nathan was in town to help Nathan and they were taking out their uncle Nick who was down visiting from Wisconsin and was looking forward to fishing with them.

So that’s how this fishing trip came about.

Once we all met first thing in the morning it seemed like Nathan was going about 1000 miles an hour and he was so excited about going fishing aboard this boat the Hooked Up that he always hears on the radio. (Truth being told at first it was tough because I was not even awake yet and I thought O boy this is going to be a long day) But this was a classic example of don’t make judgments right away about people!!

These two brothers really did know quite a bit about fishing and as it turned out they were a blast to fish with.

The whole trip was about trying to catch Nick his first sailfish. And while he had them on in the past they always seemed to get away. Then he fished aboard the Hooked Up!!

The guys had put some live mullets on board the night before and we had a bunch of live goggle eyes aboard so we were holding well on the live baits.

We headed out and steamed to the south about 5 miles to a spot we call the stink hole.

We set out our 2 kites with 2 of our baits (goggle eyes)on the long kites and 2 of their mullets on the short. Ok the trap was set and now all we needed was for a sailfish to come along and take a bite. We started getting bites but they were all kingfish and since we had monofilament leaders they were just biting threw the leaders and getting away.

So Greg changed the leaders as they got bit and replaced them with 8-inch wire tips on the ends of the leaders. Now we did land 1 or 2 kingfish but still not what we were looking for.

Then as Nathan was fighting a kingfish I seen a sailfish on one of the long kite baits and BAM we were Hooked Up. Nick jumped in the chair as this nice sail was dancing all over the place. Greg turned for a second to gaff Nathans king just as I seen another sailfish on the other long kite bait.

And just like that we had a double header sails on at the same time.

Ok we had Nick on one sail as Dominick was on the other.

Truth being told here Dominick really put it to his sail and with in just about 2 to 4 min here already had him next to the boat as Nick’s sail was also getting next to the boat.

I told Dominick to back off just a bit so we could touch the leader on Nick’s fish so we had caught Nick his sail.

And just like that we got Nicks sailfish to the boat followed seconds later by Dominick’s. Yep that’s how we do it aboard the Hooked Up!! (LOL)

The rest of the trip was down hill while we hooked one nice 10 to 15 pound kingfish after another. At one point Greg said he was done gaffing them and from here on out it was up to these guys to gaff their own fish.

This brings me to the first kingfish that Nathan gaffed. Now bare in mind when these fish get next to the boat they are like little missiles and they dart from one side of the boat to the other and finally Nathan decided to take a wrap around his had and tried to mussel the fish where he wanted it. Ok that’s fine except for a couple of things first of all when you take a wrap on a fish make sure you can get out of it real quick and second and most important make sure when you take your wrap that it is close enough to the fish where you can reach it with the gaff.

Well needless to say Nathan did neither and we would have helped him out but we were all laughing our @%$!!&*Off.

Nathan did finally gaff his fish along with a hand full of others that everyone to turns gaffing.

O Yea and one last thing our baits (Goggle Eyes) were catching all the fish however we did have 1 or 2 bites on their mullets.

Nathan, Dominick and Nick I REALLY had a ball fishing with you guys and please come back soon I would love to fish with you guys again.

Catching the one that should have gotten away aboard Hooked Up

April 27th, 2012

Today we had Chris and his sons Bailey and Brad from Canada and Max and his son Evan from Sarasota Florida out for a few hours of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

Now one of the exciting things about fishing everyday is you never know what is going to happen.

Today I was driving the boat while Captain Greg was setting out the lines.

Greg had all the lines out except one planner rod and on these planners we have a 60-foot leader that runs behind the planners.

As Greg was letting out the long leader I seen this Mahia Mahia coming across the waves heading right for the line Greg had in his hands and was still not connected to the rod.

I yelled down to Greg to watch out there was a big fish headed right for the bait and just like that Greg had this 14 pound Mahia Mahia on the other end.

Now for those of you that have fished with us in the past aboard the Hooked Up you know the Captain and the mate hardly ever have to say a word to each other since we have been fishing together for over 7 years now we kind of know what the other is thinking or doing BUT now and then we get thrown a curve ball like this but all the same not a word was spoken.

Greg just kept the fish coming at the boat and never gave him a chance to turn his head as I darted down the ladder and stuck a gaff into the fish threw him into the boat and ran back up stairs where it was safe! (LOL)

Now our intent is to have our anglers catch the fish but had Greg stopped for 1 second this fish would have turned his head and it would have been over just like that.

While we did end up catching a black fin tuna a couple of bonitos and 1 skipjack I am sorry to say that the nicest fish we caught was that first bite.

Of course we were happy to clean the Mahia Mahia for them but I do wish they had caught it.

Like I said you just never know what might happen when fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

Guys thanks again for fishing with us and we sure hope you guys enjoyed the Mahia Mahia.

Fishing with Chuck and Kelly and the 2 sails that out smarted us and the one that did NOT get away

April 26th, 2012

Today we had a farther and daughter team from Mass. We had Chuck and his 14 year old daughter Kelly spending a little quality time together away from the rest of the family to enjoy a little deep sea fishing off the coast of Ft Lauderdale and also visiting a few family members that live down here.

The goal today was to try to catch Kelly her first sailfish.

We picked up a dozen goggle eyes (Live Baits) from the bait boat and headed down south. Once we got about 5 miles south of our inlet we set out both kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite.

The trap was set and the fish were biting the only problem was it was big kingfish that were biting but no sails.

Now don’t get me wrong we were glad to have been catching fish but we were really looking for a sailfish.

Than all of a sudden I seen a sailfish on our left long kite bait and it was trying hard to catch this frisky little goggle eye. As we were watching and hoping this sail would catch the bait I noticed there were 2 sails there and BAM he finally caught the baitfish.

J.J. was feeding the fish and just letting him slowly swim away with the bait when all of a sudden he came up jumping at the boat. At this point J.J. started reeling as fast as he could as I went ahead with the boat trying to get the line tight ASAP.

The line went slack and all at once J.J. and I realized that we had made a big mistake!

The fish that was jumping was nowhere near the bait we were feeding to the other sailfish and we had pulled the bait right out of the mouth of the one that was trying to eat the bait! (RATS) That was 100% our bad. I don’t remember this ever happening to me before nor had it ever happen to J.J.

RATS AND DOUBLE RATS!!

Ok I guess we got our bad luck out of the way so right back out went the baits and once again the trap was set!

After licking our wounds for a few min and waiting a good 30 min BAM another sailfish popped up and this time we hooked him. YES YES and YES we were just prying this one would stay on the hook while Kelly jumped in the chair.

At first this sail was jumping all over the place but than once he settled down it was a down and dirty fight but there was no quitting in Kelly’s heart and after a good 15 min we finally had Kelly’s first sail fish next to the boat.

Once at the boat this sailfish was still full of piss and vinegar and while I was driving the boat trying not to run over the fish I never did get any pictures but all the same KELLY HAD FINALLY CAUGHT HER FIRST SAILFISH.

WAY TO GO KELLY.

Chuck and Kelly thanks again for a very exciting fishing trip you guys were a blast to fish with!!

5 SailFish and 1 Big Mako aboard Hooked Up Sea Fishing Ft Lauderdale in same day

April 25th, 2012

Alrighty now here I go fishing with these guys that had an unbelievable fishing trip yesterday with my crew Greg and J.J. and some how I need to keep these guys into fishing when the chances of having a catch like they did yesterday are slim to none. But somehow I managed to pull a rabbit out of my hat and WOW another great day of deep-sea fishing aboard Hooked Up.

We had once again Marty, Ross, Steven and Toney. While Steve had to leave town on business Jeff well he was just MIA. (Maybe a little too much celebrating last night)

It just so happens that every now and then a Captain has the hot hand and Thank God today was that day for me because by 9:30 am we had already caught 4 sailfish and by the end of the trip we had caught 5 with Toney catching 2 himself.

And Steven had not only caught a sailfish he also landed a Mahia Mahia.

As I look back on the last few days of fishing aboard the Hooked Up maybe it was not me that had the hot hand maybe it was the boat?? (No It Had 2 B Me)

As we pulled back to the dock we had Steve from Detroit, Paul from Spring Field Mass, Crag and Mark from St. Louis.

Once again we set out our kites with live baits suspended from them expecting the sailfish to show up at any time BUT some thing happen and the bite just shut down.

We waited and waited with no bites at all.

Finally we had a bite and boated a small Mahia Mahia but where the heck were these sails??

Finally J.J. just could not take it anymore so he set a shark bait on the bottom.

But still nothing we waited and waited and it just was not meant to be.

Now it was time to reel them in and head back to the dock.

J.J. started bring up the shark bait and just as it was in sight about 10 feet under water I yelled down to J.J. to stop for a second I thought I had seen something down there behind the bait.

Then everyone looked over the side and sure enough it looked like some kind of a shark was trying to eat the bait just behind the boat.

J.J. slowly let the line run out and yelled out I think he’s got it go ahead and just like that the rod bent over and line was screaming off the reel.

I don’t recall who got in the chair first but I do remember all they could do was to hang on as line was just getting ripped off the reel.

Now I’ve got to take a second to say that 9 out of 10 times we can tell what we have on the other end of the line but this time we just did not know.

All of a sudden this BIG Mako shark came jumping 10 to 15 feet out of the water and we were Hooked Up with a big Mako Shark. (Things got real serious real quick)

We just don’t see many of these great sharks down here in the warm waters off the coast of South Florida that often.

We kept switching anglers and on 3 different occasions this Mako did like 3 to 4 jumps in a row! WOW if you’ve never seen this I can tell you it is something assume to see.

Needless to say we would be getting back to the dock late.

I was not watching how long we had fought this shark but I would guess 45 min to an hour later we finally got him to the side of the boat.

None of the guys were into having a big shark on there wall for a trophy but J.J. came up on the fly bridge and told me since he had just bought a new house he really wanted to hang this beautiful fish on his wall.

We really try not to harm a lot of our big game fish that come swimming off our coasts BUT this one was going to have a bad day.

I think I would like to sum up today’s fishing aboard the Hooked Up as (Just another day at the office!!) (LOL)

Sysco Atlanta goes Sea Fishing Ft Lauderdale

April 24th, 2012

Sea Fishing Ft Lauderdale

WOW that’s all that comes to mind when I think about today’s trip!!

The only thing bad about today’s trip was that I was not on the boat and tomorrow I’ve got to take out the same guys that Captain Greg and J.J. took out today. You’ll understand why this is a bad thing as you read this fishing report it is a very hard act to follow.

Today the Hooked Up fished with a bunch of guys from Sysco Atlanta.

We had Steve, Marty, Toney, Ross and Jeff all from Atlanta Georgia.

Today the guys went right to kite fishing with live and dead baits suspended from the kites and I could go on about the fishing but I think this time I am just going to let the pictures speak for them selves.

had Toney catching a big Hammerhead Shark and a nice barracuda, Ross caught a sailfish and so did Steve, Marty and Jeff.

Now I don’t mean they took turns fighting these fish they all caught different sails and I’ve got to say to take these guys out fishing tomorrow ins a hard act to follow!!

Some of the guys got really tired fighting all these fish!!

Captain Taco (954) 764-4344 or toll free @ (877) SEA 4344 tacohookedup@aol.com

Steve thanks again for chartering all these boats and I hope all the Captains and Mates showed your guests a great time Sea Fishing Ft Lauderdale!

SailFish and big HammerHead Shark Aboard Hooked Up off Ft Lauderdale

April 23rd, 2012

Today we started out fishing with Hajime and Yukio from Japan.

They had both fished yesterday about the Marlin My Darlin witch are good fisherman and a good friend of mine. They had caught a box full of bonitos, kingfish and a few small black fin tunas but today these guys wanted to try for a sea monster.

So out we went to 350 feet of water and we set out 2 kites with both live and dead baits suspended from them along with a shark bait down about 150 feet and last but not least a shark bait on the bottom.

Ok so now the trap was set and now we just needed a big sea monster to come along and take a bite.

Finally a good bite on the deep line but after just a couple of min the line went slack and RATS he was gone.

Ok that was fine we still had plenty of time and we knew we were in the right spot.

Soon after that our deep rod bent over line started peeling off and BAM we were Hooked Up again.

Hajime jumped in the chair and the fight was on.

The first 5 min of the fight was Hajime just holding the rod while he just watched the line continued to run out.

But after a few min the line slowed to a stop and now it was Hajime’s turn to gain some line back but then again out went more line. This went on back and forth for a good 40 min till at last up popped this big hammerhead shark.

Way To Go Hajime!!

We did mange to slide his shark through the tuna door for a quick measurement and a couple of pictures and we even managed to get all 3 hooks out of the shark.

Then we just sled him back out the door to fight again anther day.

Hajime and Yukio thanks again for fishing with us off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

As we got back to the dock we loaded on Robert, Sharon, T.C. and Marline all came down to sunny Fort Lauderdale to get away from the cold rainy Pennsylvania weather and to try a little deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Once again we went right to kite fishing only this time we set up in 100 feet of water with 4 live baits suspended from the kites.

Ok once again the trap was set and from there it was not long before we had our first bite. And just like that we had a big sailfish jumping all over the place I think it was Robert that jumped in the chair first and the fight was on.

15 min later we had our first sailfish to the boat.

Ok right back out with the baits and BAM another sail talk about on fire! Now T.C. jumped in the chair and again the fight was on.

And once again 15 to 20 min later the second sailfish to the boat.

WOW what else can I say!! Today was a very action packed day of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up and we never could have done it without our anglers!!

Thanks again to all of our anglers for fishing with us off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the HOOKED UP.

SailFish, HammerHead Sharks and Tunas aboard Hooked Up off Ft Lauderdale

April 22nd, 2012

Today we started out fishing with Caleb and his wife Jesse from Colorado.

We started out trolling and caught 4 bonitos and 2 black fin tunas.

Once we had a few fish in the box so we switched from trolling to kite fishing with live and dead baits suspended from the kites and a couple more shark baits down deep.

From here on the big game fish started showing up.

We had a total of 3 sailfish on witch all got lucky jumping all over the place and spitting the hooks. (RATS)

But then we got a big bite on one of the shark rods and the fight was on!

It was a back and forth tug a war for a good 30 min till finally Caleb got this monster hammerhead shark to the side of the boat.

We did get 2 out of the 3 hooks out and watched him swim away in good shape.

Jesse and Caleb thanks again for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up it was a blast and we’re looking forward to fishing with you again some time soon.

As we got back to the dock we had George from Boston along with his son Theo from Miami Florida along with Luis from Arizona and Mark from Conn.

This afternoon we went right to kite fishing with 3 live baits suspended from the kites along with 2 other shark baits down deep.

All of a sudden between rainstorms we had a BIG sailfish pop up on one of the live baits. The sail grabbed the bait and swam away slowly as J.J. locked up the reel and Captain Greg went ahead with the boat. George jumped in the chair and the fight was on. At first this sail was jumping all over the place but then he settled down and it turned into a deep down and dirty fight. George hung in there and 20 min later George had his first sail to the boat.

Way to go George.

Ok back to fishing and out of nowhere a big hammer head shark ate the shark bait that was also suspended from the kite.

This shark took off like a rocket ship and the long fight was on.

This time Theo, Luis and Mark all took turns fighting this big sea monster.

At last we got him to the boat and once again got 2 out of the 3 hooks out and watched him swim away in good shape.

Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Fishing with the Vikings from Detroit Michigan

April 21st, 2012

Today we fished with a father and his 2 sons that had to have some Viking Blood in them because we seemed to be the only boat that stayed and fished the whole trip.

It Was Rough and Rainy!!

All the same these guys were fine with the weather so off we went for a little deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale with David and his two sons David and Jayson from Detroit Michigan.

We went trolling in good 5 to 6 foot sloppy seas and what made it even tougher was the fish were biting!

We were catching Mahia Mahia every time I would drive the boat under these birds.

I would troll by the bird catch a couple Mahia Mahia and then I would get away from them to give Greg a chance to re rig the baits.

When it was all said and done we were all laughing about our day of deep sea fishing BUT while it was going on it was tough and to boot these 3 guys were loving it witch is why I say they must have some Viking blood in them.

By the end of the trip we had at least a dozen or more Mahia Mahia and 1 kingfish and 1 big bonito.

David David and Jayson thanks for fishing with us I think I am still trying to get all the salt water out of my ears. (LOL)
