It is the beginning of Sep and I guess we should consider ourselves lucky all these hurricanes are passing south of us. However they are coming close enough that the seas have been 7 to 9 foot waves. The good news is we have been getting a lot of the maintained on the boat out of the way.
Today NO MAINTAINCE We’re going fishing and I’ve got to say that after 5 days of sitting at the dock we can’t wait. We all showed up at the boat this morning to be greeted by Brad, Warren, Mark and Rob all from New York and they could not way to go fishing either. However a couple of their friends had just a little too much to drink the night before a they decided to spend the morning in their hotel room sleeping and save themselves for what I had hopped a big lose in the Jets Dolphin foot ball game tomorrow. As it turned out I would just settle for them missing a killer day of fishing. We ended up with a box of kingfish 3 barracudas one of them a monster and one huge Wahoo. Thanks for a fun time on the water guys and enjoy your Jets victory this time.
The storms are long gone and fishing is good so give us a call and let’s get you Hooked Up.

We managed to get in a couple of fishing trips after our last storm and here comes another one but we did manage to get this trip in just before the weather started getting rough again. So off we went with Eric and Fried and two other guys that we never did get their names. We started out doing a little trolling on the reef with little luck just a couple of small bonitos. Than we put out our kites live baits suspended from them. Baits were hard to come by but we did manage to cast net a few mullets back at the dock and that’s all we needed. It took some waiting but our wait paid off. We seen a swirl by one of our kite baits and before we knew it a fish was walking away with the bait in his mouth. When we came tight with the fish he came jumping out of the water dancing all over the place we were Hooked Up and this was a big sailfish. Eric wasted no time jumping in the chair and the fight was on It took a good 15 min to get this monster sailfish to the side of the boat but at last there he was. (WAY TO GO ERIC.)
This next little storm we have going by to the south of us well be long gone within 2 days and fishing should once again turn on like it always does after a storm goes by so give us a call and let’s get you out there and Hooked Up.

This morning we got to the boat and were meat by Patrick, Konstantin, Andy, Joel, Chung and Gene all from down here in South Florida. We started out trolling the reef and caught a few kingfish and bonitos.
Then we went to kite fishing with live baits suspended from the kites. We waited for a while but once again it paid off for us we hooked into a big sailfish and Patrick wasted no time jumping in the chair and the fight was on. Way to go Patrick it took Patrick 10 to 15 min to get him to the boat. Man we needed this bite sometimes when the fishing is a little slow it’s just that one bite you need and thank god this one came along for us. Guys thanks again for a fun morning of fishing and we’re looking forward to fishing you again in the next couple of months.
It seems the sails are starting to show up early this year so come on down and lets go do some Deep Sea Fishing Down here in Sunny South Florida.

Today we set out on a birthday trip for Mathew and his friends Ryan, Sean, Michael and Jim all from Plantation Florida. Now I know that the last few fishing reports I’ve written sound a lot the same but you know what they say if it’s not broken don’t fix it.
Once again we started out trolling the reef and catching everyone a few king fish and today was no exception we did just that. Than once again we set out our kites with live baits suspended from them to see if our luck was still with us and try to catch birthday boy Mathew a sailfish.
Remember it is Sep and the sail fish are not supposed to be around but once again up pops a sailfish and Mathew catches his first sailfish. Great going Mathew.
I’ve got to take a moment to say that now that most of the fisherman around South Florida is practicing catch and release it must be paying off. If you go back for the last 8 and a half years that I’ve been writing fishing reports you’ll see that our catches have been improving every year.
So come on down and experience some of the best fishing South Florida has to offer.

Today was an interesting trip let me start with before the fishing trip started. We were at the dock getting everyone on board and stowing away their drinks and food and just introducing our selves when I asked Mark why he had chosen to fish on the Hooked Up when he had considered so many other boats to fish on. As it turned out all these guys worked for Taco Bell and what better fishing boat to go out on than Taco Hooked Up. So we knew we were in for a fun day of fishing with these guys.
The guys were Dave from Philadelphia Mark from Pittsburg Floyd from Ohio Scott from Ohio and Bruce from Virginia. And we were going to do what we had been doing the days before and hope our luck had not changed.
We started out trolling the reef hopping to catch a few king fish. But we did not except the kings to be biting like mad dogs. It did not take long before we had our limit of kingfish.
So off we went to fly our kites with the live baits suspended from them and hoped to catch a sailfish. It did not take long before our first bite and out came this fishing dancing all over the surface of the water. Man what a sight this fish was out of the water more than it was in the water. It took Scott a good 20 min to get him to the boat side but at last we got the sailfish to the boat got the hook out of his mouth and watched him swim away. Well it was downhill from here we looked like we might know what we were doing. But wait that’s not all within 15 min we seen a big splash by one of our live baits and the line started screaming off the reel like it was never going to stop. At this point Mark jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This fish never did jump and it really did not eat like a sailfish. This fish just stayed deep and gave us a hell of a time trying to turn him up toward the surface. Mark hung in there and at last up popped this huge black fin tuna. WAY TO GO Mark.
As you can imanage by now we really looked like we knew what we were doing. So after some high fiveing and some hand shaking we went right back to it and got all the baits back out there.
Than all of a sudden a huge swirl by our left long kite baits and once again the fight was on. This time Floyd jumped in the chair and it was GAME ON and I do mean GAME ON this fish was going to take some time to get to the boat. We knew it was a sailfish but what we did not know was how BIG this one was. There was a lot going on at one time so I did not think of timing Floyd’s fight but I will say that it was at least a half an hour before we finally got him to the boat. By the time Floyd got his sailfish to the boat it was tail wrapped and had died during the fight. So we boated the fish to have it smoked.
The Hooked Up fishing crew does not like killing our game fish and I can’t tell you the last time we brought a sail fish to the dock however this fish did die during the fight and we figured better to have him go to a good use that to just let the crabs eat him. Anyway let me get back to this monster sailfish it was 97 inches long HOLLY COW this fish was monster it had to weigh at least 85 pounds way to go Floyd!!
So I guess you could say this really was a TACO day.
I don’t have to tell you about the fishing you can see it for yourself so give us a call and lets catch you your fish of a life time down here in Sunny south Florida.

This morning we had Brain, Scott, Greg, Mitch, Glen and Darren all from Miami Florida out for a morning of deep sea fishing. These guys were looking for some fish for dinner. So we figured since the kingfish had been biting well so we’d start out with them and work our way to some even better eating fish from there. The kings were not biting as well as they had been but we did manage to put 4 nice ones in the box. Than we decided since no one had been catching any dolphin fish this morning we try our luck at a little bottom fishing. As it turns out we made the right choice we ended up catching a bunch of snappers.
We didn’t catch any monsters this morning but we caught plenty of fish for everyone. Thanks again guys and we’ll see you again soon.
That same afternoon we had Jim and Diane from Ohio waiting for us at the dock to do a bit of deep sea fishing . We started out trolling the reef and caught the kingfish pretty good. Then we went over a ship wreck and put out some live bait just to see what might be lurking around. Once again a good choice we caught a couple of big barracudas.
Well the storms are all gone and fishing has been getting better every day so come on down and let’s do some deep sea fishing in sunny South Florida.

Today we had Justin, Steve, Austin and Hoss all from Tallahassee Florida We started out doing some trolling on the reef looking for some kingfish but they were not biting very well. We did catch one king but today the bonitos were biting better we ended up with 5 bonitos. Since trolling was a little slow we decided to try our luck at some bottom dropping. So we went to a wreck and dropped live bait 210 feet down on the bottom. It only took a couple of seconds after hitting the bottom and we were Hooked Up we ended up hauling up a monster amber jack.
Thanks again guys and looking forward to fishing you again soon.

This morning we were joined for a deep sea fishing trip by Kevil and Valeria from SanFransico and by Dave from Sunny Vale Ca, Jeff from Ayer Mass Thomas from Germany and Katrina from Richmond Ca. Trolling the reef had been a little slow so we went right to kite fishing. The first strike we had was a big barracuda and Jeff wasted no time jumping in the chair. It only took him 4 to 5 min to reel him in and we wasted no time getting all the baits right back out there. After a little waiting I seen a big swirl by our left long kite bait and from there it only took seconds and there he was a big sailfish came out of the water jumping. We were Hooked Up and this time Katrina wasted no time getting in the chair. This was a big fish and it had somehow gotten tangled in some of the other lines that were out there. So while we were trying to untangle the lines and at the same time trying to reel in this big sailfish a nice dolphin fish decided to really make things interesting and he also ate one of our baits. What to do? We decided to pay more attention to the sail and just hoped that the dolphin Thomas was reeling in would just stay connected.
While Katrina was busy trying to keep up with her fish Thomas had gotten his fish reel close to the boat. Since Jay Jay was busy helping Katrina I ran down stairs real quick and I just grabbed the leader with the dolphin on the other end and just swung him into the fish box. Perfect right! No not so much. The dolphin did not care for the icy fish box and just jumped out right back into the water. Lucky for me he did not swim away far and I got one more quick shot at this leaping fish this time I closed the lid RIGHT AWAY.
Did not get away that time and by now Katrina had her fish close enough to the boat for Jay Jay to get a quick measurement of the fish so Katrina could get a replica mount made of her fish.
Great going to all of you what an action packed fishing trip. The only thing missing is the pictures. I forgot my camera but everyone else got some good shots and as soon as I get them e mailed to me I will post them.
Fishing has been great so time to take a weekend getaway vacation. Give me a call and I’ll set you up with a hotel that will cook up your catch and don’t bother renting a car I’ll pick you up and get you to and from the boat. LET’S GO FISHING.

This morning we were joined by Matt and Maria from Ft Lauderdale for a morning of deep sea fishing. We started out trolling the reef looking for some king fish or some bonitos. But the sea weed was so thick on the reef it was almost imposable to fish so after about an hour of clearing the weed off the lines I decided to go off shore and maybe get lucky and find some dolphin fish so they could have a fish fry when they got home. I had found a nice weed line off shore and I felt sure we would find some dolphin here but no bites. So I headed off the weed line trying to find something else to fish to when all of a sudden out of the blue one of our deep lines bent over and line started peeling off the reel. Maria wasted no time getting in the chair and the fight was on. This fish was pulling hard and going down deep so we figured it was a skip jack tuna. It took about 5 min to get the fish near the boat when I noticed this fish had strips and was moving fast. This was no skip jack this was a Wahoo and a nice one at that. Captain Greg wasted no time getting a quick gaff in this fish for we had him on a mono leader and this fish had teeth enough to bite threw our leader as if it was hot butter.
Talk about a lucky catch it turned out to be a 29 pound Wahoo and now I knew that Matt and Maria were going to have a great dinner tonight. Matt ended up catching a big barracuda but that was it for our morning fishing trip. That’s the thing about going off shore you’re either a hero or a zero today that one fish made the difference and thank god he showed up.

When we got back to the dock we had Carol, John, Jo-Ann and Jay Jay from New York there waiting for us. We cleaned the fish for Matt and Maria and we were off again. This time we wanted to waste no time trying to troll on the reef with that sea weed everywhere so we went right back out to that edge where we had been fishing earlier in the day. We figured that if there were any sailfish around they would be on that edge.
So we put out our kites in about 714 feet of water hung our live baits from the kites and the trap was set. All we needed was for some fish to show up to eat our baits.
We never did see any sailfish but we did manage to catch a couple of real nice dolphin fish. Carol thanks again and I hope you guys enjoyed the dolphin in your new home. We know we’ll be seeing a lot more of you guys.
Guys we’ve got dolphin, sailfish Wahoo kingfish and a few sharks around so give us a call and lets set up a little mini vacation for you!! If you like I can help you out finding a good hotel close to the boat so as you don’t even need to rent a car.

Today we had one of our repeat customers Charlie and his two boys Jake and Austin from Baltimore.
We started out trolling the reef and managed to catch a few kingfish. Then we went out to 350 feet of water put out 2 kites with live baits suspended from them and one big dead kingfish also suspended from the kite. We also put out a dead king down on the bottom and one more about half way down. I guess you could say the trap was set.
The second we set up we seen a sailfish about 20 feet just south of the boat I tried to move the boat over so that the live baits would be right about where the sail was but by the time we got over there he started jumping and swam off. (RATS) At least we knew we were in the right area. We started waiting and waiting and waiting till finally Captain Greg seen something around our left long kite bait. No one else seen anything and Greg seems to like to keep things to himself so we had no idea what was going on out there. I was looking but nothing than I heard Greg say I think it’s him and that all I needed to hear. I told everyone on the boat to hold on because if this was a sail fish and if he came up jumping I was going to go ahead with the boat hard. It almost looked like we might know what we were doing because no sooner than the words came out of my mouth there he was jumping all over the place.
Jake jumped in the chair and this fish had its hands full because there was no way Jake was going to give up no matter how long this fight was going to last. When the fish was jumping all over the place he managed to get all tangled up in one of our deep baits so we had to be very careful trying to untangle it. It took a good 5 min of fighting the fish while he was tangled just trying to untangle it. But we did and now that the tangle was undone we were able to back down on the fish.
Once we got close enough Greg reached over a grabbed the fish. We got the hook out of the fish got a couple of quick pictures and a measurement and watched him swim away to fight another day.
We got the baits right back out there and it was not even 2 min when BAM we got another bite. This time it was Austin’s turn and just like his brother he jumped in the chair. This time it was a nice barracuda. Way to go Austin. Once again we got the baits right back out there and once again BAB we were Hooked Up again. Austin jumped in the chair again and started reeling in another barracuda only this one was a big and very pissed off barracuda.
I guess this is why they call fishing (Hours of boredom interrupted by moments of panic and chaos.)
Charlie thanks so much and I’m sure we’ll be seeing you guys again soon.
For a better look at these pictures go to my photo gallery #5
Well the fishing speaks for its self so get your butts down here in sunny south Florida and let’s do some fishing.

This morning we started out fishing With Joel and his two sons Ben and Blake and we also had their grand farther Bill and two close friends of the family Trey and Andy all from Lexington South Carolina. We started out trolling the reef catching a box full of kingfish. Than we sent out our 2 kites with three live baits suspended from them and one dead kingfish. Usually when we set out our shark baits we set up in 350 feet of water but since there has been so many kingfish on the reef this time we decided to set up in 150 feet of water. We also set one dead king fish on the bottom.
It didn’t take long till our bottom bait got a bite and the rod bent over. Line started peeling off the reel and at first we didn’t think this fish even knew he was hooked there was no stopping him. We got one of our anglers in the chair and the fight began. Each of the kids gave it their all and just kept switching anglers and finally began to wear this sea monster down. Finally Joel got in the chair and finished the fight.
When we finally got the fish to the side of the boat we realized why it was so hard to get this fish to the boat. Not only did it turn out to be a big Great Grey Hammer Head Shark but on top of that he was hooked in the side. It took a good hour and 45 min to finally reel this SEA MONSTER to the boat. Once the fish was next to the boat Jay Jay and Captain Greg slid the fish into the cock pit threw the tuna door. They got a quick measurement of the fish for a replica trophy to be made of the fish. They also managed to get the hooks out of the hammer head to give it a good chance of surviving after he was slid back into the water.
WAY TO GO GUYS nice catch with a good ending for everyone.
Once again I’ve got to say I don’t know why these big sharks are still around this time of the year but we’re sure glad they are. So give us a call and let’s get you Hooked Up down here in Sunny South Florida. Captain Taco toll free at (877) SEA-4344

Today we had Chris, David, Mark and Gary all from Cam Bridge. We started out trolling the reef and it took no time to get our limit of kingfish. When these things are biting they are just everywhere. Jay Jay never did get all the baits in the water while we were trolling the reef for kings. The sec he would get one in the water and start setting out another one the first one would get bit. Talk about a busy start to the day.
We than decided to give Jay Jay a little break and go off shore and look for some dolphin fish. BREAK yea right not today as soon as we got off shore here they came dolphin fish from every direction and not little guys either most of the in the 7 to 8 pound class with a couple of 12 to 15 pounders thrown in.
We ended up with a box full of fish and not much waiting for a bite. We sure don’t get to see this everyday but like I’ve said in the past this has to be one of the best summers of fishing that I’ve seen off the coast of Fort Lauderdale in a long time.
Give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you out getting a hotel near the boat so you don’t even need to rent a car. And as for the fishing well it speaks for itself.
