| November 2005
Well, It's finally November and although we were eager to go fishing a lot of people are canceling their trips due to the hurricane.
Eventually, on the 7th...We did finally get out. We were joined by Blaine, Ken, Joe, Tony, Dan and Steve from Oklahoma, North Carolina and from Tenn. We knew that dolphin fishing would be good but we were not only able to find a couple of dolphin ... We also caught (1) skipjack and (2) nice amberjacks.Bonus!!!!
Then on the 9th, Derek and Eric from England spent the morning fishing with us and as usual ... our luck kicked into overdrive! We not only caught (4) kingfish, We caught a BOX full of dolphin! We also found a big tree trunk floating about 4 miles offshore and they were everywhere. As time was running out we decided to troll in and got lucky again hooking into (2) more dolphin fish both weighing over 20 pounds! Unfortunately, at the last second when they were right behind the boat...they got away. Still, A GREAT DAY... A BOX FULL OF BEAUTIFUL DOLPHIN FISH!
Later, that same afternoon...We figured we would try the same and go off shore to see if we could find them again But first we thought we would catch some king fish just in case we did not find the dolphin fish again. It was important to us to make sure we caught fish...for we had a regular customer of ours onboard (Robert from Boca). Well, as it turned out ~ that was a good idea ... because dirty water had moved in and even though we went 8 miles off shore in search for clean blue water and dolphin fish aiming to please...It was beyond our control as we found neither. Sorry about that Robert, I think we took it worse than you did. Looking forward to making it up to you.
Well, today is the 11th of November and although fishing was not that great, We all had a great time anyway! The New England Patriots are here in town to try to beat the Miami Dolphins. And we had a boat full of Patriot fans and I sure hope they all go home a lot less confident than they are right now. They were all from New Jersey and their names are as follows ~ Joe, Vinnie, Paul, Billy and Mike. And yes we gave them HELL!!! They ended up catching (3) kingfish and (1) very nice African pompano." But no ... they never did have a shot at any dolphin" (What a shame) Ha Ha guys have fun at the game and good luck. I hope you come in 2nd !!!!
Then, in the afternoon we took out Roland from New Jersey and Brandon from Philly. Well, they had been fishing the day before with a good friend of mine Paul Roadhouse on a charter boat and they had a very good day. They caught a hand full of dolphin and a nice sailfish. So we had our work cut out for us and live bait was impossible to catch. We ended up catching (1) ballyhoo and (3) blue runners. So we decided to put the blue runners out on a kite and the ballyhoo out on the rigger and we also put out 2 dead kingfish hoping maybe a shark would come along. Well, it never did happen ... so after a while we decided to change our fishing method and we trolled the reef and ended up catching a couple king fish. Well, I guess that's why they call it fishing.
Well, guys congratulations the New England Patriots won.
On the 12th, We took out Todd, Greg and Rob from New York City and fishing was pretty slow. We ended up catching (2) mackerels.
But that afternoon things turned around for us...We took out Kevin, Leo, Mike, Jason and Armand all from Boston and we ended up catching (1) nice dolphin and a beautiful sailfish. Great going guys!!! looking forward to seeing you again soon.
On the 15th, We were joined for a morning of fishing by Pat, Caris, Buck, Danny, Mary and Jane from Georgia and Gainesville Florida and caught (1) mackerel (2) kingfish and jumped off a sailfish.
Then on the 17th, Pete, Jim, Max and Stone from Pittsburgh caught a box full of kingfish.
On the 18th things started to look up for us. We had Jimmy, Marc, Christon, Justin and John from Kansas City and from Florida out and had a great day of Charter Fishing off Fort Lauderdale. We caught (3) kingfish (1) dolphin (2) bonitos and a sailfish. Thanks for everything guys see ya soon.
On the 19th, Mike, Buck, Joe, Login and Derek from Nebraska and from Jacksonville caught a mackerel and a bonito. Sorry about the tough fishing guys. We are looking forward to making it up to you.
On the 20th, Ryan, Jordan, Laurie and Rick from Hilton head S. C caught (2) kingfish (1) mackerel and a dolphin.
Then on the 23rd, Our good friend Jimmy took his father Jimmy, his brother Tom and his son Bob out for a morning of fishing and we caught a monster barracuda and a real nice red grouper.
On the 25th, Fishing was slow when we took out Sandy, Amy, Sunshine, Susan, Mindy and Daniel from New York and from Florida and Daniel caught her first fish (a kingfish).
That same afternoon we had Wendy, Dave, Elaine, Hugh and Molly from Texas. We ended up with (3) kingfish and a bonito.
On the 27th, Dave and his dad Dave and their good friend Ben from Florida and from Wisconsin spent the morning fishing with us. We were looking for dolphin and only dolphin but we just could not find them. However we did manage to find one big enough for dinner. Thanks again guys for the very nice tip even though we did not catch a lot. Looking forward to making it up to you.
On the 28th, We had Doug and Fidel from Missouri. They had fished with us before so they kind of had an idea of what they were looking to do. So we started out trolling down the reef in search of some kingfish. We did exactly that...catching (4) 10 pound kings yet they really were not baiting very good. So we decided to change our plan of attack. We went over a ship wreck and trolled some little jigs and caught a few little bonito and we put them in the live well and off we went to a deeper wreck and dropped down 1 of our live bonito and caught a Monster Amber Jack! Then we went out to deeper water and trolled our way back to the port. We thought we might catch some dolphin on the way home but we never did find them. All in all we had a good day and a lot of fun. Thanks again Doug looking forward to fishing with you guys again soon.
Well, The 29th was a special kind of day to be a Charter Boat fisherman off of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The seas had to be 5 to 8 feet high but as usual the Hooked Up ends up with vikens on board. We had a big convention held by SECO Systems and we had their guess with us for a morning trip and then more of their clients again in the afternoon. Well, in our morning trip we had Joie, George, Ken, Harvey, Jeremy and Bub Ba all from Maryland, West Virginia and from Delaware. Now remember this was one of the roughest days I have gone out fishing in a long time but it did not seem to bother any of them. So we caught some live bait and went trolling down the reef and we caught (4) or (5) kingfish then we decided to drop some live bait on a wreck. We ended up catching a 35 pound Amberjack! Then we dropped again with no luck. So we decided to try another wreck, one that my mate-captain Mike decided on which was a lot better than I. So we switched ... he drove and I worked the cockpit and man did that pay off! Mike put us right on a 57 Pound Grouper! @#. Nice going Mike !!!
Then that same afternoon we had Natalie, Mike, Harold and his wife Cindy and yes Baa Ba had not had enough and he had to come along again on our afternoon trip. So now the seas had calmed down quite a bit but it was raining and I mean it was coming down. So we decided to troll off shore and look for some dolphin and this way we could go into the rain and it would not be so bad on everyone. Well, we went about 5 miles off shore and never got the first bite. So we turned around and went back to the spot where we had caught some live bait in the morning and tried that again. But by now the rain was getting really bad so I thought that I would give Mike a break and what the hell ... it worked for us in the morning trip so we went for it.
Well, the bait beat well and it only took a couple of minutes to catch what we needed. Then I put out our live baits in search of a sailfish. Meanwhile we were called by all the other boats that they were going in early do to the bad weather. But once again the Hooked Up ends up with Vikings and we stuck it out. We all ended up fishing and laughing in the rain but only ended up catching (1) kingfish. But what the HELL we all had a ball anyway.
Well, that is it for November and all I got to say is GOOD-BYE! Hurricane season is over and we made it. And we are looking forward to a great season so SEE YA SOON. ( TACO)
