October

Well, the weather was still very rough. We set out on a 6 hour trip with some old customers: Dan, Dennis, Almyn, Frits and Enirco from Boston, South Africa, Italy, Holland and from Ft Lauderdale. But I'm afraid to say that the waves were just too much. We only fished for a few min and we had to cut the trip short. We did manage to catch a few kingfish. Sorry about that guys ... looking forward to fishing with you again next week so we can make it up to you.

Than on the 4th the seas calmed down and we were able to go fishing again.
We had Chuck and his dad Chuck who brought along some friends Jim, Greg and Brad they were all from Michigan. We had a ball catching kingfish, a couple dolphin and (1) small tuna. Then we decided to try our luck with some live bait fishing. We fished with live baits for about 2 hours without a bite. So we decided to call it a day. And that is when it happened! We had an explosion on our long kite bait we ended up catching 1 of the coolest sharks out there. It was a Spinner Shark while it may not be the biggest of sharks to watch them fight is really something else. Nice going guys see you again soon.

That same afternoon we had Randy, Randy, Tim, Tarie and August on board they all worked for CUNA Mutual and they came from all over the country.Jacksonvill, Orlando, Daytona, and Biloxi Miss. Anyway we had a great time we went trolling down the reef and ended up catching (5) kingfish. Then we tried our luck with some live bait fishing. But it never happen for us with the live baits so we went back to trolling and caught some more kingfish.

Than on the 6th, Andrew, his friends and family flew in for his wedding. He was joined by Don, Gatir, and Dale and they came from all over the country. From Washington, DC, San Antonio Texas and from Orlando Florida. We started out trolling down the reef for kingfish and we ended up catching a box full. Than we went off shore looking for dolphin but ended up catching only 1. But we all ended up having a great time. Best of luck Andrew.

On the 7th, We were joined for a morning of fishing with Rick from Iowa and his friend Bill from Kansas City.
We had a pretty good morning trolling the reef we ended up catching (6) kingfish (1) bonito and a nice dolphin.
That same afternoon we had Jerry, Mike, Zack, Marissa, Gabrielle and Nina all from Connecticut and we caught (6) kingfish and a bonito.

On the 8th , We were joined for a morning of fishing by Marcdo, Bryan, Steve, Jeff and Alvaro from North Carolina, Virginia and from Jupiter Florida.
And we had a great morning filled with plenty of action. We ended up catching (10) kingfish and (1 ) big bonito.

That same afternoon we took out some old customers and good friends from Manhattan New York. Our plan was to fish all afternoon and as the sun set we were going to set up for a night of sword fishing. Well, we did OK that afternoon and caught (6) nice dolphin but we never did get a sword fish bite. We were supposed to mail the fish up to them within the next couple days. But a few days later we got hit with hurricane Wilma and we needed some food to throw on the grill. So sorry guys I owe you guys some fish.

On the 9th, We had a real fun trip we took out the Woods family Dan, Jon, Jesse, Chuck, Jim and Jeff and we had a ball we ended up catching (9) kingfish, (2) bonitos and a Wahoo that weighed at least 30 pounds. Great going guys and looking forward to seeing you again soon.

On the 11th, We took out some friends Jason, Jason, Dave and a couple other guys that did not write third name down. O yea and about 1,000,000,000 beers and we ended up not catching much as far as fish goes but we all caught a good buzz and had a great time. We ended up with (1 )kingfish, (1) dolphin and (1) mackerel. Well, guys thanks for a real fun day of fishing and I know we will see you again soon.

On the 14th, We took out Larry and Vickie and Cam and Suzie and Scott from Tenn. and Philly we ended up catching(3) dolphins (2) kingfish (1) barracuda and (1) amberjack.

Well, That same afternoon we took out our good friends from Champion, IL. Bobby and Dina. And I had a very good friend of mine from Medford Ma. Ride along with me Darcy Ann (AKA) Annabelle and she caught her 1st big fish... a real nice dolphin great going girl but remember one hand and no ... your left hand does not count.!!! We ended up catching (4) dolphins that is the good news the bad news is we lost a blue marlin. But Bobby redeemed himself by catching a monster Wahoo. Thanks for one of the most fun filled trips I've had this year. See you guys again real soon.

On the 15th, We took out Debbie and Ross from Nashville Tennessee and we had a ball. We ended up with (9) Wahoo and (8) dolphins.

Than on the 16th, We took out Phil, Jim, Adam, Cindy and Katie from Boca Raton Florida. We trolled the reef and caught(8) nice kingfish.

On the 17th, Audra and Chris from Chicago spent the morning fishing with us and we caught (1) dolphin (2) kingfish and(1) cero mackerel.

That same afternoon Thomas and Miles from Switzerland caught (1) dolphin (1) skipjack (1) black fin tuna and(5) mackerel.

The 20th was a very fun day of fishing. For us and for our customers. We started out trolling on the reef but things were pretty slow we only caught (1) kingfish. So we decided to go off shore looking for some dolphin we found (3) of them but we were pretty happy about that for no one else found any. So as we were trolling our way back in we found a real nice cooler change and we started working it and ended up pulling out two 30 pound plus Wahoo. Great going guys looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Well, the 22nd was a special day of charter fishing for us we took out a bunch of old friends and new ones. Now the thing about taking friends is you never seem to have a very good day of fishing with good friends. But this was the exception we slammed the dolphin.

We had P V, Eric, Lenny, Steve and Bobby all local guys from Fort Lauderdale Florida. The only problem with this trip was that they only brought 72 beers with them. And the reason we know this is when they ran out they all talked about how many beers each of them brought. Well, needless to say when they ran out the trip was pretty much over. But that was OK we had a box full we ended up with (2) kingfish and (18) big dolphin 1 weighing about 30 pounds. Thank you guys for a very fun trip and remember next time bring plenty of beer. See you soon.

Well, that was the last trip we were able to do before hurricane Wilma hit. We started to feel the affects of Wilma around 5:30 am. And man let me tell you a little about Wilma. I have been caught in some pretty bad weather out in the middle of the ocean on a boat so bad weather on land has never really been much of a problem for me.

(THIS WAS DIFFERENT) I live about a half mile from the beach and when I looked toward the beach at the sky it looked like a war zone. I've never seen the sky light up with so many colors and when I looked at the river behind my house at all the boats tied down and they were being thrown around like toy boats. Then I looked across the street at all the store fronts and their windows were popping out like they were made out of paper. Then I was watching the roof on my home as it started coming off in huge pieces. I was sure my whole roof was going to fly off at any minute!
I know we have all seen the pictures on TV but to look at the picture does not do this storm any justice. It is another story when you're caught right in the middle of the monster... But I was one of the lucky ones, I had no damage inside my home and I was one of the few that moved my boat way up the river and the Hooked Up weathered this storm without a scratch.
The funny thing about something like this...is ... all my neighbors got together for dinner every night and we all helped each other. And the same goes for a lot of the charter boat captains. We seemed to help each other and got to know each other better. Thanks Wilma but no more.
Well, Things are pretty much back to normal so come on down and lets go fishing.

Well, We survived hurricane Wilma and we did manage to get one more trip in Oct.
And an old friend of mine Roger (no show Harpo) from Orlando chartered the boat and he brought a good friend of his Ed who brought his son Lee with him. We thought that the dolphin fishing would be good after the hurricane but much to our surprise there was not a dolphin to be found. However we did manage to catch (1) Spanish mackerel and (1) cero mackerel. So we decided to try our luck on some of the wrecks and started dropping live bait down about 265 feet and Lee had no idea what he was in for. We hooked into something big.... I mean very big, he fought the fish for about 20 min then the fish came up pretty easy. It turned out to be a 105 Pound Amberjack and we only got 3 quarters of the fish. That's right a shark took a big piece of the fish on the way up. I told you Lee ..."reel fast before a big one eats him" Thanks for a fun day guys and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Well, thank God that is the end of Oct. Talk to you again in Nov.
Peace Taco
